Superintendent Teresa Williams
March 2012 Dear Parents, Staff and Community, As I visit each school site, I am continually amazed to see how young children are actively using educational software programs while secondary level students create Powerpoint presentations, websites, and pursue online instruction. It is an exciting time for education as we move from the pencil and paper era to one where the needs of the individual learner can uniquely be addressed through the use of technology. We thank the Moorpark community for the support of the Measure S bond that brought state of the art technology to our District. I am proud to say that our overall District State API score has reached a high of 837. Each school has targeted focus areas for improvement and our teachers are busy addressing the needs of each student. School enrichment and extracurricular activities, along with our outstanding sports program keeps our youth well-rounded. Parental involvement at each grade level supports the vision of our District in forming students who are both academically and socially prepared for the 21st century. Thank you for the support that you continue to give to Moorpark schools and I urge you to stay informed regarding the current state of school funding. Our District has lost over $6 million over the last five years and we anticipate a shortfall of an additional $4 million should the state fail to secure additional revenue. We must continue to work together to ensure that this does not happen. Respectfully yours, Teresa A. Williams District Superintendent
